Please note There is only 1 rectangle outline stitch around box the heart is set in. If you want to make the layer underneath the heart, a different color/applique, like shown in the pic; you can:

• stop your machine after the tack down stitch
• lay your felt
• stitch the rectangle outline
• stop the machine, again before moving to the next step
• cut around the felt before stitching the next step
